Become an IB DP student!

Gymnázium a SOŠ Rokycany (G+SOŠ) is a state grammar school with more than a century of tradition and provides students with general education in a four-year and an eight-year programme. IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) is implemented in one of the four-year programmes, comprises the last two years of study there and is based on a curriculum called Inspiration and Knowledge in Context. The aim of the educational process is to guarantee universal and complex development for each student including motivation for lifelong learning, creative education and promotion of logical thinking and problem-solving techniques. We are not aiming for a particular focus or field; our priority is a satisfied student supported by an individual approach. The following policies (Admissions Policy, Academic Integrity Policy, Assessment Policy, Inclusion/Learning Support requirements Policy, Language Policy) have been elaborated to provide framework for the educational processes at Gymnázium a SOŠ Rokycany and to present our school’s attitude towards learning and teaching.

Academic requirements for students from other schools and internal students outside pre-DP classes

1. Students must achieve Level B2 or higher in English; a proof of reaching this level must be supplied as an appropriate language certificate.

2. Students must achieve a “1” grade in a particular subject in order to pursue the subject in the related DP subject group at higher level (HL).

3. Student must achieve at least a “2” grade in a particular subject in order to pursue the subject in the related DP subject group at standard level (SL).

4. Students must provide references from at least one teacher from their prior school.

5. Students are expected to demonstrate adherence to the mission, vision and core values of G+SOŠ in their behaviour and character during an interview.

6. In case of not meeting the academic requirements mentioned above, candidates can take Individual Subject Admission Tests (ISAT) administered by the school. Such candidates will be required to pass these examinations before admission can be confirmed.
